After a very brief courtship (four days), a barefoot, white-bikini-clad Anderson weds Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee on the beach in front of eight guests in Cancun, Mexico. Anderson files for divorce from Tommy Lee again. She says in a statement that she "is and has been the victim of spousal abuse." Police arrest Lee after Anderson claims he attacked her at their Malibu home. Lee pleads no contest to the charges and on May 20 is sentenced to six months in jail for felony abuse.

Telling friends she was tired of her all-breast-no-brain image, Anderson undergoes surgery to remove her breast implants, reducing her bra size from a 34D to a 34C. Weeks later, she reconciles with Lee, telling Access Hollywood, "Tommy and I are stronger united than separated." She also calls the assault an "isolated incident," insisting that her ex "has evolved as a person." She lifts the restraining order, allowing Lee to visit their children.

Anderson publicly accuses Lee of infecting her with hepatitis C via a shared tattoo needle. He denies the charge. Anderson, who files a petition in 2001 seeking full custody of their two kids, continues to fight Lee in court. The two finally settle their custody battle in 2003.

New beau Kid Rock takes her via motorcycle to a gravel highway strip in the Nevada desert. There they find Rock's tourmate, Uncle Kracker, sitting in a pink Cadillac, wearing an Elvis jumpsuit and holding a ring. Rock proposes and Anderson accepts. "She's elated," her publicist tells PEOPLE. The couple never set a date and split in 2003.

"Simon & Schuster came up with the idea, actually," Anderson tells PEOPLE. "They said, 'Do you know what a 'roman á clef' is?' I go, 'Who's that?' They said, 'Something inspired by your life.' So I started writing."

Anderson fronts M.A.C. Cosmetics' Viva Glam V campaign, with proceeds going to people with AIDS. Prior Viva spokeswomen include Missy Elliott, Christina Aguilera and Chloe Sevigny. That same month, she returns to the small screen in Stacked, a comedy about a girl who works at her family's bookstore. The show stays on the air for nearly two seasons.

After rekindling their relationship and announcing their engagement in July, Anderson and Kid Rock wed in multiple ceremonies; the first being a five-minute service aboard a yacht in Saint-Tropez, followed by an official union at a Beverly Hills courthouse and a third in Nashville. David Furnish, one of the couple's 150 guests, tells PEOPLE, "The best thing about today was the sheer fun of it all. It was a real rock and roll wedding." In November, they both file for divorce.

In between sets of her Las Vegas magic show, Anderson marries longtime friend Rick Saloman. (Saloman is best known as the distributor of and on-camera partner in 1 Night in Paris, Paris Hilton's sex tape.) In December, after two months of marriage, Anderson files for divorce from Salomon. Although she later posts on her Web site, "P.S. We're working things out," her marriage is annulled in March.

Pam & Tommy Reunite

Giving their love another shot, Anderson and Tommy Lee reunite while filming her short-lived E! reality series. "We've only given it a try 800 times – 801, here we go," Lee tells Rolling Stone. "Pamela and the kids [sons Dylan, 10, and Brandon, 12] have moved in with me. It's awesome. It's definitely working." Their reunion is short-lived, as Anderson moves on briefly with surfer-electrician Jamie Padgett.

Anderson signs on to compete on season 10 of Dancing with the Stars, alongside pro dancer Damian Whitewood. "I've never danced in my life," she says. "I've never taken a lesson, always wanted to and the timing was good." Anderson – called "a great performer" by judge Bruno Tonioli – is voted off the show in April.
